The Story Behind Refresh Me

Born From Lived Experience in Extreme Heat

When founder Simon Kioi arrived in Qatar on 5 January 2025, working as a cleaner while building Univa Africa Technologies, he experienced a daily challenge shared by millions: extreme urban heat. Walking through parks, beaches, and public spaces, finding cold water required walking long distances to malls or supermarkets. The problem wasn't a lack of beverages—it was accessibility.

The Urban Problem

Rising Temperatures. Outdated Infrastructure.

As modern cities grow and temperatures rise, public hydration infrastructure has remained unchanged for decades.

  • Extreme Heat Risks: Exposure to heat exhaustion in parks, transit hubs, and outdoor spaces.
  • Inconvenient Detours: Forcing pedestrians to walk long distances to supermarkets just for a cold drink.
  • Underutilized Public Spaces: Parks, sports areas, and transit stops lack essential refreshment utilities.
Our Infrastructure Solution

Refresh Me Station: A New Category of Urban Utility

Hydration should be as accessible as electricity, lighting, and public transport. Refresh Me Stations bring beverages closer to where people live, work, and move.

  • Climate-Resistant Cooling: Industrial-grade stainless steel enclosures with high-efficiency refrigeration built for Middle Eastern & African climates.
  • Cashless Speed: Sub-second payments via card, phone, or QR code with automated collection doors.
  • Smart Cloud Telemetry: Real-time inventory sensors, temperature monitoring, and predictive maintenance dashboards.
